Recognizing the 60th Anniversary of the March on Selma

10 years ago, White House photographer Lawrence Jackson traveled with President Obama to the 50th anniversary of the March on Selma and captured one of the most iconic photos of the entire administration.

Last week, in honor of the 60th anniversary, we caught up with Lawrence to learn more about his journey to the White House, his thoughts on that history-making day, and his reaction to being featured at the upcoming Obama Presidential Center.

Meet the Jumping Juniors

Jumping Juniors, an organization that empowers young girls through Double Dutch jump rope, is preparing to expand their programming on Chicago’s South Side with support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance.

The program focuses on collaboration and mentorship, helping girls gain essential life skills that bolster their self-esteem, resilience, and sense of community.

Earlier this month, the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance announced the first-ever cohort of MBK Ambassadors!

These 18 young men from all across the country are stepping up to help build safe, supportive communities where boys and young men of color can thrive. Over the next two years, they’ll work closely with their community leads, applying best practices and evidence-based strategies to make real, lasting change.
