| When Barack and I left the White House, we decided to focus on building up the next generation—making sure they had the tools, connections, and opportunities to grow as leaders, learn from one another, and share their gifts with the world. That’s exactly what we do every day at The Obama Foundation. The Obama Leadership Network connects changemakers with their equally passionate and talented peers, and gives them the tools they need to make a real difference. Our changemakers are out in the world working on solutions to everything from climate change to economic inequality—using the skills and relationships they’ve built to solve problems they might not have been able to on their own. The Girls Opportunity Alliance is empowering local leaders around the world who are dedicated to expanding access to girls’ education, ending child marriage, and creating new opportunities for adolescent girls to flourish. Our partnership has helped countless young women build a brighter future—not only for themselves, but for their communities, too. And when the Obama Presidential Center opens next year on the South Side of Chicago, leaders in our networks and ambitious problem-solvers from around the world will have a new space to gather, connect, and dream up the solutions to the challenges we face.
