One of those people is José Patiño, a 2024-2025 Obama Foundation USA Leader. An immigrant from Mexico himself, José uses his role at Aliento, an Arizona-based non-profit, to ensure students get the education they deserve regardless of immigration status, advocate for justice for immigrants, and champion immigration reform. |  | | | | José, whose father was deported when he was 11, understands the instability so many are feeling. Now, he's serving others in similar situations—training cohorts on their rights, roleplaying what to do if agents show up, and helping parents prepare deportation packets in case they are detained or deported, helping ensure they have care for their minor children arranged.
