Obama Foundation leadership programs are all about “passing the baton” and empowering the next generation to make a positive change in their communities. Today, we’re excited to introduce you to 100 of those incredible young people—our 2025-2027 class of Voyagers! Founded by President and Mrs. Obama and Brian Chesky, the co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, the Voyager Scholarship gives students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to pursue a career in public service a unique opportunity to connect with new communities and travel the world. Get to know the college juniors who are about to embark on a 2-year journey of learning and self-discovery. The new cohort includes students from 34 states and territories and 71 colleges and universities. First-generation college students make up 56 percent of the cohort, reflecting a broad pipeline of talent from families and communities new to higher education. All students have demonstrated financial need, and, in addition to financial aid through the scholarship, every student will receive funding and support for a summer voyage—a work-travel experience designed by each student to support their unique goals and aspirations—and a robust network of mentors to lean on.
